Robert G. Blue 1924-2008

Robert G. Blue was born March 13, 1924 in Newton, MA and died on Friday, October 3, 2008 in Rockport, MA at the age of 84.  Bob Blue painted a variety of subjects ranging from docks, harbors, seascapes, and the mountains and villages of Vermont and Maine.  He graduated from the Vesper George School of Art and, later in life, studied painting with Emile Gruppe (1896-1978).  As a young man, Bob's career started in the commercial art field creating scientific illustrations for national magazines and journals — he did this for 42 years.

During World War II, Bob worked at MIT's Draper Lab in Cambridge, MA.  He was able to work alongside Doc Edgerton and others who were pioneering in radar at that time.  For 28 years Bob did illustrations for the publications department at Jackson & Moreland Engineers in Boston.  He gaine   ...  [Displaying 1000 of 2735 characters.]  Artist bio
