Franciszek Streitt

Franciszek Streitt (1839 - 1890) was active/lived in Poland.  Franciszek Streitt is known for Figure, genre painting.

Franciszek Streitt was an artist educated in Germany. He studied, like most traditionalist painters of the time, on the Isar River in Munich. His artistic formation was also influenced by the years of study in Kraków, under the supervision of Matejko himself, as well as the period of education in Vienna. Much of his artistic oeuvre is maintained in the spirit of stimmung painting of the Munich school. His paintings are filled with scenes from the life of small villages and provincial towns. Streitt, like other painters of his time, in addition to landscape subjects, willingly took up issues of folk types. Human silhouettes appear in his paintings as figures embedded in a vast landscape and as independent, isolated studies. They were an opportunity for the artist to analyze colorful costumes, reproduction of details and ornaments. Streitt devoted a lot of space in his work to the people of Roma origin.
