Helen Goodwin

Helen M. Goodwin (1865 - 1955) was active/lived in Indiana.  Helen Goodwin is known for Landscape, miniature painting.

Helen M. Goodwin was born in New Castle, Indiana in 1865.  Like many young women artists of her day she went to New York to study at the Art Students League and then on to Paris to study at the Academie Julian.  While in Paris she also attended classes with painter Charles Hoffbauer.  Upon her return to the United States Goodwin visited the thriving artists' community of Provincetown, Massachusetts where she took classes with the popular teacher Charles Webster Hawthorne.  She also attended summer classes at the Shinnecock Summer School of William Merritt Chase.

Goodwin exhibited at the Royal Academy, London, from 1907-1911; Art Institute of Chicago, 1913 and in 1925 at the Hoosier Salon in her home state of Indiana where she won a prize for her work.  She was an active member of the Indiana Art Club; Provincetown Art Association; Women's Art Association, Paris and the Hoosier Salon.  She was known to have also exhibited under the name Goodwin-Pain   ...  [Displaying 1000 of 1305 characters.]  Artist bio
