Johann Wilhelm Von Tscharner (1886 - 1946) was active/lived in Switzerland, Hungary, Germany.  Johann Von Tscharner is known for Still life, portrait and landscape paintings, dadaism.

Johann Wilhelm von Tscharner (born May 12, 1886 in Lemberg, Austria-Hungary, died June 20, 1946 in Zurich) was a Swiss painter.

The grandfather of Johann Wilhelm von Tscharner emigrated in the 19th century from the canton of Grisons to Russia and prospered there. The connection of the family to Switzerland, however, never broke off. Johann Wilhelm's father commuted between Zamosc in Russia and Switzerland. Most of the time he and his wife were in Rorschach.

Johann Wilhelm was not born in Switzerland, but in Lemberg in Austria-Hungary, because his mother traveled there for the birth of her first child to their parents. In Rorschach and St. Gallen Johann Wilhelm von Tscharner attended primary school. In 1897, the boy from Tscharner came to a high school in Russia. Even after he had learned the Russian language perfectly, he never felt at home in Russia.  In the time at high school Tscharner received lessons in drawing and painting for the first time.
