Karl Georg Anton Graeb

Karl Georg Anton Graeb (1816 - 1884) was active/lived in Germany.  Karl Graeb is known for Painting.

Carl Graeb shows an excellent understanding of the arranging of overlapping architectural forms, which served him well in the depiction of church decor. Here he devotes a second time to the late Gothic pulpit of St. George in Nördlingen, Swabia, which he had already painted in oil in 1872. A staircase with a loop-like quatrefoil pattern winds its way up, the pulpit is arched over by an expansive, baroque soundboard. The perspective chosen by Graeb seems unusual. A large part of the pulpit body is covered by a massive pillar, around which the stairs wind rhythmically upwards   ...  [Displaying 652 of 1088 characters.]  Artist bio
