Barthelemy Toguo

Barthelemy Toguo (Born 1967) is known for Painting.

Barthélémy Toguo was born in Cameroon in 1967 and began his studies at Abidjan School of Fine Arts, Cote d'Ivoire.  Since then, he has studied both in France and Germany, at the Graduate School of Art in Grenoble and the Dusseldorf Kunstakademie.  Trained as a sculptor, he later began to experiment with film and performance, before taking up watercolour in 1998.

Toguo's works are informed by his political motivations and are often intentionally provocative.  The concept of national boundaries and their permeability is a recurring theme.  The number of people and goods flowing between countries has increased exponentially in the 21st century as a result of globalization and technological developments.
