Frederick Ogden

Frederick D. Ogden (1892 - 1948) was active/lived in Illinois, Wisconsin.  Frederick Ogden is known for Landscape, river view and portrait painting, illustrations, calendar art.

Biography from the back of one of the artist's paintings:

Born in Hancock County on the Mississippi River in Illinois in 1892.  Is a direct descendant of John Ogden the Pilgrim, who settled in Southampton, Long Island in 1642.

Always associated with the arts, he earned a living variously as a musician, designer of stage scenery and engraver.  In recent years he has devoted his whole time to painting.  Self taught, he is a great admirer or the nineteenth century English landscape school.  Adapting what he has learned from his studies of these masters of the American landscape he knows and loves so well, his paintings have a sincerity and attention to detail seldom found among his contemporaries.

He has exhibited at the Chicago Galleries, at All Illinois Society of Artists, the Brooks Memorial Art Gallery in Memphis, and many other prominent exhibitions, his works receiving high acclaim wherever shown.
