James Herbert Snell

James Herbert Snell (1861 - 1935) was active/lived in United Kingdom, England.  James Snell is known for Landscape painting.

An accomplished English landscape painter, James Herbert Snell studied art at Heatherley's, London, Paris and Amsterdam.  Recognition was soon to follow with election to the Royal Society of British Artists in 1890 and the Royal Institute of Oil Painters in 1909. 

He lived in London in 1880; Glasgow, 1897; Tonbridge, Kent, 1900; Burnham Bucks in 1902.  He was a wide exhibitor in both the provinces and in London including: the Royal Academy, Royal Society of British Artists, Royal Cambrian Academy, Royal Hibernian Society, Royal Society of Painters in Water Colours, Royal Institute of Oil Painters, Royal Scottish Academy, Glasgow Institute of Fine Arts, Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, and Manchester City Art Gallery. 

Titles exhibited at the Royal Academy include: Signs of Winter, 1880; Woodland and Solitudes, 1882; and An Olde Time Garden, 1902.
