Louis Robert Arthur Latapie (1891 - 1972) was active/lived in France.  Louis Latapie is known for Cubist and mod figurative painting, book illustration.

Born in 1891 in Toulouse, Louis Latapie is a painter, illustrator and decorator.

After studying at the Ecole des Beaux-arts in Paris where he took lessons from Jean Paul Laurens, he attended the Académie Julian where he befriended the cubist sculptor Jacques Lipchitz. 

It was at the Academie Ranson where he discovered the work of Paul Sérusier and devoted himself to cubism research in collaboration with Max Jacob and Jean Metzinger. One of the youngest painters of his generation, gifted and receptive to great innovative movements, Louis Latapie was born into painting by adopting cubism in full bloom. 

In 1922 he began to exhibit his cubist works alongside those of Jacques Villon (brother of Marcel Duchamp). In 1923, Latapie met Georges Braque and Ozenfant, in 1925 Latapie moved to Toulon where he founded a free academy with Juan Gris, he was won over by the luxuriance of the southern light.
