Horse painter and etcher (1835 Munich to 1902 Munich), according to Bruckmann is considered an important representative among the Munich horse painters, after the early death of his parents first apprenticeship as a lithographer, 1851-52 briefly studied at the Academy in Munich with Joseph Schlotthauer, 1853/54 private student with Johann Wagner-Deines, largely self-taught, friendship with and encouragement from Eduard Schleich the Elder, through Schleich became involved in the Munich art scene, from 1870 he maintained a joint studio with Otto Gebler in Pähl, later joint studio with Anton Seitz in Munich, 1891 appointed professor, Source: Thieme-Becker, Saur "Bio-Bibliographisches Künstlerlexikon", Bruckmann "Münchner Maler des 19./20.
