Ralph Brown was born in Yorkshire in 1928 and died in 2013.  Photographs of all Brown’s work can be viewed in the book "Social, Savage, Sensual. The sculpture of Ralph Brown" published in 2009 to mark his 80th birthday.

He studied at Leeds and Hammersmith Art Schools and at the Royal College of Art.  He was a part-time tutor at the RCA Sculpture School from 1958 for many years.  He first exhibited in London in 1953 and showed work widely since then, with solo and group exhibitions in the UK, Continental Europe and the USA.

Ralph Brown sculptures are in public collections in many countries and in private collections around the world.  He was elected to the Royal Academy of Arts in 1968 and became a Royal Academician in 1972.
