Ryszard Zajac was born in 1929 Kosów Huculski.

 In the years of 1948 to 1952 Zajac studied at the Faculty of Architecture of the Szczecin University of Technology.

Zajac received his architect diploma in 1952. Then he moved to Warsaw and undertook further studies in architecture at the Warsaw University of Technology, two completed years with a master's degree.

He practiced the profession of an architect for a short time, since from 1960 he devoted himself exclusively to painting, becoming a member of the Association of Polish Artists and Designers in 1963.

Education had a great influence on the nature of the art. The subject of Zajac's works are primarily architectural landscapes, most often inspired by a specific place. They are characterized by crowded buildings formed of irregular blocks, a complicated perspective of space, and the intense color of cities climbing upwards.
