Ted Potter

Ted Potter (1933 - 2006) was active/lived in North Carolina, Kansas.  Ted Potter is known for Modernist figure.

Ted Potter was born December 6, 1933 in Springhill, Kansas.  Potter, the son of a Methodist minister, grew up in Chicago.  At Baker Univ., he majored in art earning a BFA in 1956. Studied at the Univ. of Kansas, the Univ. of California at Berkeley, and earned a MFA in 1961 from the California College of Arts & Crafts.  Director of the Glide Foundation in San Francisco, 1965-67 and director of the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art from 1967-91.  After leaving SECCA in 1991, Potter served as the director of Florida's Atlantic Center for the Arts until 1994, when he became the director of the Contemporary Art Center of New Orleans.  In 1996, he became director of the Anderson Gallery at Virginia Commonwealth Univ. in Richmond,
Va., and an associate professor of art history at the university's School of Arts.  Retired in
2006.  He died in Richmond, Virginia on November 2, 2006.
