A Quebec painter and draftsman, Yvon Breton was born in Johnville, Quebec (about 100 miles east of Montreal) and as of 2010 has lived in Baie-du-Febvre, Quebec (on the St. Lawrence River about 55 miles northeast of Montreal).

His preferred medium is oil painting on canvas; but, he has worked in acrylics, watercolors, pastels, ink and charcoal. His subjects include landscapes, still life, flowers, birds, and figures; and, as an abstractionist: color, shape, line and texture. His styles could be described as Abstract Expressionism*, Fauvism* and Modernism*. The askART auction results have several excellent illustrations of his oeuvre.

His art education includes several years study at the École des Beaux-Arts (aka: School of Fine Arts), Montreal (1962 – 1966). From 1966 to 1973 he worked as an illustrator for graphic art studio. He has been a fulltime painter since about 1980. (1)
