Joan Cornellà Vázquez, born in Barcelona in 1981, is an internet sensation known for his comic strips and artworks that are full of satire, dark humor, and absurdity. His works feature a simplistic visual language, bold outlines, and stoic facial expressions on every character. Cornellà's unique and absurd portrayal of surreal situations pokes fun at traditionally prohibited subjects with gory scenes of amputation, cannibalism, abortion, and suicide. Despite the macabre nature of his works, they are transformed into dark humor by the vein of humanity that runs through them. Cornellà's works have been exhibited across the globe, and he designed the album cover for Wilco's Schmilco in 2016.
