Andre Bachand (1917-1983) was a self made painter, best known for old traditional houses and countryside landscapes. He was a graduate of the Technical school in Montreal in late 30"s, and completed some study at Montreal fine arts school. He was a friend of Maurice Lebel and worked with Marcel Choquette and Mr. Leroux,

Bachand spent most of his working years as technician and later director of the technical service at City of Montreal, and was responsible from 1968 to 1972 for the 21 pavilions maintained at "Man and his world".

He had shown his painting in several galleries in Montreal and in Quebec regions, but only one exhibit was organized where over 50 painting where sold.

He died in 1983 at age 66, leaving an other exhibition in preparation.

Most of Bachand's works are in the Montreal region, and many that where prepared for the unfinished exhibition are at family houses.
