Betsy Westendorp is a Spanish-Filipino artist known for her rich floral oeuvre, which has inspired younger Filipino artists. She has painted a variety of flowers, such as orchids, poppies, peonies, sunflowers, water lilies, birds of paradise, and milflores. Most post-war artists in the Philippines kept their distance from the subject of flowers, but Westendorp redeemed the absence of flowers in Philippine art. She is quoted in the text saying, “I find flowers fascinating. Flowers are for everybody.”
