Dan Deuter was born in 1949, and grew up on the family cattle ranch in South Dakota. He received a set of paints for Christmas one year and showed so much
talent that his aunt entered him in an art show, meaning that he participated in the first art show he ever saw.

Dan's life as a cowboy and his interest in history led his art career in that direction, and historically accurate paintings of the old West are his trademark.

Dan's subject matter includes horses, cattle, buffalo, cowboys, Indians and the fur trade era.
