He was a master student of Richard Müller and Otto Gußmann.  He came in close contact with avant-garde artists such as Kurt Schwitters, László Moholy -Nagy , El Lissitzky and Alexander Archipenko and in 1923 hehad his first solo exhibition  at the gallery " Der Sturm".  That same year, the inflation that began in Germany in 1914 reached its climax.  Devalued banknotes and tokens were now taken for Kesting's rare collages .  His constructivist works were noticed in the characteristic style of the time: "Designing, Building, forming, from mind, hand, matter tolight, color, form, in an organic, structural organism, add, bind, include the static-dynamic function, the voltage relationship, rhythm in space-time volume, in depth, height, enclosed, constructive, destructive tying, mutual falling into Concentric , Eccentric put through , push off into a vertical , horizontal spreading.
