Hilma Mole Payne (1901-1973)

Mrs. Payne was born Hilma Mole in Morgan Utah of English and German descent.  She was a graduate of Weber College and the University of Utah where she obtained a Masters Degree in Fine Arts.

In 1928, she studied at the Julian Academy in Paris and later at the California School of Arts and Crafts in Berkley.

Hilma Mole Payne was a student of the internationally recognized artist J.T. Harwood. Some of her accomplishments include: The painting of the State Capitol Building in the Salt Lake City, Paintings exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Fine Arts in New York City, President of the Palette Club of Ogden Utah where she had a one man show of her paintings at the Utah Power and Light Auditorium Jan. 1955.
