Josef Waldemar Keller-Kuhne was born in 1902 in Munich-Neuhausen. Initially a student at the Munich trade school, Keller-Kuhne then studied at the Munich Academy from 1921-30 under Heinrich von Zügel and Angelo Jank. He went on study trips to Finland, Hungary, France, Austria and Latvia before becoming a freelance artist in Munich. Josef Waldemar Keller-Kuhne began exhibitions in 1922.
