Mary Suehanna Darter Coleman (1893 - 1956) was active/lived in Texas, California.  Mary Coleman is known for Landscape, portrait, marine painting, teaching.

Mary Suehanna Darter Coleman was born in Fort Worth, TX on Nov. 16, 1893.  Mary Darter graduated from Texas Christian University and then studied at the Art Students League in New York City under Bridgman, Mora, and Carlson. 

From New York she returned to Texas as an art instructor at Midland College, Texas Christian University, and Phillips University in Oklahoma.  After her marriage to painter Harvey B. Coleman in 1925, she settled in Los Angeles. 

Among those with whom she further studied are Edgar Payne and Jack W. Smith.  Mrs. Coleman died in Los Angeles on Dec. 17, 1956. Her work includes portraits and landscapes. 

Member:  Los Angeles Art Ass'n; Calif. Art Club; Women Painters of the West; Glendale Art Ass'n. 

Exhibits:  Texas State Fair, 1915; Los Angeles County Fair, 1929; Van Nuys Gallery, 1946; Artists of the Southwest, 1952.
