Pieter Van Bredael

Pieter Van Bredael (1629 - 1719) was active/lived in Netherlands.  Pieter Bredael is known for Southern European landscape (with markets and village fairs), battle scenes and genre painting.

Peeter van Bredael (1629-1719) was a Flemish painter from Antwerp.  It is known that van Bredael worked in the studio of his countryman David Rijckaert III and that he traveled a lot among others to Spain.  Presumably he made a journey to Italy as well, which is not documented but it seems probable due to the subjects he chose.

The artist was the founder a family of painters, since several children and grandchildren became painters too.  Van Bredael primarily painted sceneries with markets and village fairs situated in a south European landscape, genre and occasionally battle scenes.
