Sebastian Weissenbacher was born in Eggenburg, Lower Austria in 1959.  He attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna from 1979-84 where he studied painting under Max Weiler and Arnulf Rainer.  Various scholarships took him to Budapest, London, Rome and Chicago.  In 1999 he was co-founder of the group ‘Die halbe Wahrheit’ with Götz Bury and Martin Praska.  The artist lives and works in Vienna.
