Thomas William Marshall (1850 - 1874) was active/lived in New York. Thomas Marshall is known for Landscape, genre.
Little is known about this talented but short-lived artist. Thomas Marshall showed a decided taste for oil painting at an early age but received no formal training.
He is remembered best for his landscape paintings. During his brief career, he died when he was only 24, he studied nature in the mountains of upstate New York and in 1872, he traveled to Brittany and Switzerland in the company of a fellow artist, A. Wordsworth Thompson.(1) In New York, he exhibited his paintings of Catskill and Adirondack Mountain scenery typically associated with Thomas Cole and the Hudson River School. He was a member of the American Society of Painters in Watercolors, and according to an obituary notice in the December 12, 1874

, he exhibited several pictures at the National Academy of Design in the summer of 1871.
