Joakim Skovgaard (1856 - 1933) was active/lived in Denmark.  Joakim Skovgaard is known for Painting.

Joakim Skovgaard is the first son of Peter Christian Skovgaard, who introduced him and his younger brother Nils to painting.  From 1871-76 Joakim was enrolled at the Academy of Arts in Copenhagen.  A little later, 1880-81, he was like many of his fellow artists in Paris pupil of Léon Bonnat, who was held in high international esteem.  During this time he came  into contact with French realism, the lasting influence on him in his art.
