Ferdinand Petrie

Ferdinand Ralph Petrie (1925 - 2007) was active/lived in New Jersey.  Ferdinand Petrie is known for Sea-landscape, genre, illustrations.

A native of New Jersey, Petrie received his art training at Parsons School of Design and The Famous Artists School of Illustration.  He also studied painting with Frank Reilly at the Art Students League in New York.  After working 20 years as an illustrator in studios in New York City, he begain painting full time and operated his gallery in Rockport, Massachusetts for 25 years.  Petrie is the author and illustrator of the book Drawing Landscapes in Pencil.  He also illustrated six books for Watson Guptill Publisher.  He is listed in Who's Who in America.

Ferdinand R. Petrie passed on in October of 2007.
