Frank Coburn

Frank Coburn (1862 - 1938) was active/lived in California, Illinois.  Frank Coburn is known for Landscape-urban, figure and still life painting.

Born in Chicago, IL on July 24, 1862. Coburn began his art career as an ornamental sign painter and remained a self-taught artist except for brief study at the AIC and in St Louis. After moving to Los Angeles from the Midwest in 1908, he was active in the local art scene. He made many sketching trips throughout California and exhibited in Los Angeles galleries through the late 1920s. An Impressionist, he painted plein air landscapes (which often include buildings and other architectural features) as well as rainy street scenes and still lifes. Coburn died in Santa Ana, CA on Nov. 13, 1938. Exh: Painters Club, 1909; YMCA (LA) 1910; Calif.
