A popular western Canadian painter, Nicholas Bott (aka: N.J. Bott) was born in Blokker, the Netherlands (15 miles north of Amsterdam). He immigrated to Smithers, British Columbia, Canada with his family in 1958, and currently lives in New Westminster (Greater Vancouver), British Columbia. (2)

His primary medium is oil paint on canvas or board. His primary subjects are landscapes of British Columbia – Rocky Mountains, forests, lakes, coastal views, rural views, etc. However, he has also done landscapes of other places he’s visited such as the high arctic (Baffin Island, Greenland, Devon Island) and Europe. He has also travelled in South East Asia, but we have not seen any works by him indicating South East Asia locations. His style is influenced by Vincent Van Gogh and the Group of Seven*. It could be described as Fauvism*, Neo-Impressionism* or Post Impressionism*.
