Patricia Stanley Cunningham

Patricia Stanley Cunningham (1907 - 1984) was active/lived in California.  Patricia Cunningham is known for Modernist genre-townscape and still life painting, sculpture.

Lilliana Braico studied with “Pat Cunningham (1907-1984) in 1962. Pat and John Cunningham were directing the Carmel Art Institute-founded by Armin Hansen and under the Cunninghams, having such visiting lecturers as Leger and Archipenko….”; Gene Elmore obituary says “Elmore returned to California after the Korean War, settling on the Monterey Peninsula, … ‘I put all of my stuff in a locker at the old Monterey bus station, then decided to take one more walk on the wharf. That's when I saw a poster on a telephone pole about GI-approved schooling,’ he says. ‘I called the number and Pat Cunningham answered the phone.’

Cunningham was a renowned Carmel painter whose work was seen in countless private collections and museums, including the Metropolitan Museum of New York. She also was the first female president of the Carmel Art Association and, with her husband, John, became co-founder in 1959 of the local chapter of the American Federation of Arts, which became the Museum of Monterey   ...  [Displaying 1000 of 1913 characters.]  Artist bio
