Umberto Bruni

Umberto Bruni (1914 - 2021) was active/lived in Quebec / Canada.  Umberto Bruni is known for Painting, teaching.

He was born in Montréal in 1914.  From 1930 to 1938 he studied at Fine Arts of Montréal, the art of mural and stained-glass and window making with professor Guido Ninchéri.  In 1938 he earned his Fine Arts degree in Montréal.  He taught at the Fine Arts school and the University of Québec in Montréal from 1939 to 1980.

In 1972 he was the Director and founder of the Gallery UQAM.  In 1977 he was  elected member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts.  In 1989 he was awarded Lion d'or au Mérite by the Order of Canadian Sons of Italy chaired by the Honorable Jeanne Sauvé.

In 1992 he received a Commemorative medal of Canada; and in 1995 he received an honorable mention of the Lieutenant Governor of Quebec.
