Mary Roberts Ebert

Mary Roberts Ebert (1873 - 1956) was active/lived in Connecticut.  Mary Ebert is known for Landscape, coastal views, Indians.

Mary Roberts Ebert was born in 1873 in Titusville, Pennsylvania. Her early training was at New York's Art Students League. Ms. Ebert underwent additional instruction with G.Hunt of Boston and with Childe Hassam and John Twachtman in Cos Cob, Connecticut .

While taking studies in Cos Cob, she met her future husband and noted artist, Charles Ebert. The couple married in 1903 and settled in Greenwich, Connecticut. They subsequently moved to Old Lyme, Connecticut in 1919 and became important members of that art colony, which was affiliated with the Florence Griswold House (now Museum).

Mary worked in both oils and watercolors, but it is felt that she was more remembered for her watercolor work. She created landscapes, seascapes and portraits in an impressionist style.
