Félix Del Marle

Félix Del Marle (1889 - 1952) was active/lived in France.  Felix Del Marle is known for Painting.

Originally from Valenciennes in the north of France, Felix del Marle studied at the fine arts school in Lille before moving to Paris in 1912 where he shared a studio on rue Dutot with Apollinaire and Severini. Close to such Italian Futurists as Marinetti and Boccioni, his paintings were exhibited in 1913 at Clovis Sagot's; adopting the precepts of the Italian movement he published Le Manifeste Futuriste à Montmartre that same year. Despite being enlisted and serving during the war, he never ceased to draw and would become a caricaturist lampooning society and siding with social and popular protests. After discovering the work of Kupka, he turned to abstraction, and was later profoundly influenced by Mondrian's vision of abstract art. Attentive to the artistic developments of his time, Del Marle constantly questioned his art and, in the 1930s, returned to figurative painting.
