François Maury

François Maury (1861 - 1933) was active/lived in France.  Francois Maury is known for Figure, genre, landscape painting.

François Maury completed his studies at the École des Beaux-Arts in Marseille, where in 1880 he received the first prizes for painting and drawing, followed the following year by the prestigious Jules Cantini prize. Subsequently, he perfected his artistic training at the Académie Julian in Paris. From 1885 to 1905, he exhibited regularly at the Salon des Artistes Français, of which he became a member, and at the Salon d'Automne in Paris. It is above all in landscapes and portraits that Maury demonstrated his talent, landscapes of his Provence, Savoy and Paris. He animated his scenes with joyful figures, women, nymphs or legendary characters, which bring to mind the style of Adolphe Monticelli, by which he was strongly influenced.   ...  [Displaying 739 of 1098 characters.]  Artist bio
