Kalbhenn's works have been shown in over 200 solo exhibitions; he also took part in numerous other exhibitions at home and abroad.

Kalbhenn's works are in private and public ownership, including in the collections of the regional councils in Stuttgart, Freiburg im Breisgau and Tübingen.

Horst Kalbhenn passed away in Ravensburg, Germany in 2012.
