Louis Sparre

Louis Sparre (1863 - 1964) was active/lived in Finland, Sweden.  Louis Sparre is known for Painting.

Louis Sparre was from 1893 married to the designer Eva f. Mannerheim (1870-1957). Together they formed the legendary furniture and ceramics factory Ab Iris in Borgå, active 1897–1902. The factory combined artistic design with industrial manufacturing. After the factory collapsed due to financial difficulties, the spouses founded Konstindustriell ritbyrå Eva & Louis Sparre, where she was given a prominent role. Among other things, the couple designed patterns for the Friends of Finnish Handwork and the Tampere Linen Factory. Eva Sparre designed textiles for the Friends of Handicrafts in 1905–1908 and also designed a piece of furniture. In 1908, the family moved to Djurgården in Stockholm, where she worked as a book artist. Eva Sparre is known, among other things, for Cookbook for connoisseurs and ordinary hungry people from 1935, where Finnish-Swedish high-class cooking, with elements of Swedish, French and Russian cooking, was adapted to the interwar national Swedish upper middle class   ...  [Displaying 1000 of 1270 characters.]  Artist bio
