Manuel Sanjulian, also known as Manuel Perez Clemente, was born in Barcelona, and has lived in the small coastal town of Sitges, Spain since 1977.  He is married with two children.

Sanjulian is known for painting fantasy art.  Using a rich palette, he creates comics, fantasy magazine and novel covers.  He also dedicates part of his time painting fine art and is recognized for his realistic subject matter. He uses contrasting warm and cool color variations to give his art an almost photographic realism. His style is influenced by the nineteenth-century illustrators and has been compared with that of Velázquez.

He studied at the Belles Arts of Sant Jordi.  Then in 1961, at age 20, he began work with the European Art Agency, Selecciones Ilustradas.  Working in the comic section there led to his full color works being seen outside of Spain, in other countries including Germany and England.
