“I was supposed to be a city painter. I was supposed to paint pictures specifically about this place, about Leverkusen. Marcin Maciejowski Marcin Maciejowski was born in 1974 in Cracow, Poland. He has established himself in Polish and foreign art of the last few decades as an artist with exceptional accuracy, and thus sparingly, using combinations of images and texts to strengthen and reciprocate messages. The heroes of Maciejowski's canvases are usually ordinary people and objects, shown in often even more commonplace, almost embarrassingly ordinary situations. A text, drawn with a brush on a canvas in the obviousness of its simple statements, even harsh descriptions, is a separate "hero", revealing the commonness that historically art has tried to escape from for several hundred years. It is no different in the case of "Notice Board" (Leverkusen) from 2001, where the artist's focus is usually on an unnoticed and forgotten object.
