Norbert Schwontkowski was born in 1949 in Bremen. He studied at the Akademy in Bremen and Hamburg. In 1994, Schwontkowski was awarded with the Bremen Art Prize and the Overbeck Prize for forming art. Schwontkowski's mostly representational painting themes play with the unconscious and surreal, with its diverse male literary agents into image set figures and motifs wea vibration often in broad, undefined spaces.
