Paul Guiragossian

Paul Guiragossian (1926 - 1993) was active/lived in Lebanon, France.  Paul Guiragossian is known for Abstract figurative and still life painting.

Born in 1926 in Jerusalem, Paul Guiragossian, a modernist painter of abstract figurative and still life subjects, spent his early childhood in boarding schools because his mother was a single parent.  Then after moving back home with his mother, he had to work in the summers to support his family.  During this period, he was developing his obvious talent and passion for painting. 

"His mother would destroy and throw his works and forbid him from painting, because she use to say, art won't feed your family, but after everyone went to bed, Paul would bring out his hidden materials and with a dim oil lamp light continue painting."

In 1942, he enrolled in the Studio Yarkon in Jerusalem to study painting.  In 1953, after moving to Lebanon, he married Juliette Hindian a young painter who first was his student. The had five children, and one of them, Jean-Paul, became an artist.
