Paul Joostens

Paul Joostens (1889 - 1960) was active/lived in Belgium.  Paul Joostens is known for Painting.

Born in Antwerp, Paul Joostens first learned about Cubist painting before turning to Dadaist collages and abstract objects from 1919, using recycled materials in the style of Kurt Schwitters. Around 1925, he distanced himself from the avant-garde, forging an original style, “Joosten Gothic”. In the 1950s, he returned to his Dadaist assemblages. In 1976, a retrospective was dedicated to him at the International Cultural Center in Antwerp.
