Peter Krämer II was a Bavarian-American painter who came from a family of painters with the same name. His father, Peter Krämer I, studied under Julius Schnorr von Carolsfeld and emigrated to the United States, where he became known for his depictions of the American Liberation War. Peter Krämer II specialized in genre painting and his small-format watercolors depicted elderly men with an eye for detail, paying particular attention to their costumes and attributes, which represent different activities traditionally associated with Bavarian authenticity.
