Philip Veith (1793 - 1877) was active/lived in Germany.  Philip Veith is known for Fresco painting.

Philipp Veit was a German fresco painter born in Berlin in 1793. He was commissioned by Marchese Carlo Massimo to design a ceiling fresco in the Dante Hall of the Casino Massimo in Rome in 1818. Veit designed the eight heavenly heavens described in the Divina Commedia for the four vaulted ceilings. The fresco with the lunar and Mercury sky was created in 1820-21. The moon sky on the left shows Dante, Beatrice, Empress Costanza and Clarisse Piccarda, in the sky of Mercury the pilgrim Romeo de Villanova and Emperor Justinian are shown. The second compositional study presented here shows on the left the Venusian sky shaped by love with Karl Martell, Cunizza da Romano, the bishop and troubadour Fulk of Marseille and Rahab, and on the right the sunny sky, which houses the souls of the wise men and the teachers of the church, on the left Dante and Thomas Aquinas, Albertus Magnus and Dionysius Areopagita stand against Beatrice, to the right of the couple are John Chrysostom, Nathan and Bonave   ...  [Displaying 1000 of 1087 characters.]  Artist bio
