Ralf Kerbach

Ralf Kerbach (Born 1956) is known for Painting.

Born in Dresden, Ralf Kerbach studied at the local Academy of Fine Arts and attended the class of professor Gerhard Kettner, between 1977 and 1979.  Kerbach has been active as a freelance artist ever since. 

Besides, he was the co-founder of the punk band 'Zwischenmaschine'.  In 1982 Kerbach was forced to move to West Berlin, especially due to unofficial journalistic engagements.  Scholarships and a number of artistic tasks enabled Ralf Kerbach to work in Olevano in 1986/87, in Paris in 1988, in Val Quieres near Montpellier from 1988 to 1990, and finally in Brazil in1991.

Since 1992 Kerbach has held his position as professor of painting and graphic arts at the College of Fine Arts in Dresden.  In 2010 he became a member of the Saxon Academy of the Arts.  The artist lives and works in Dresden and in Biesenthal near Berlin. (cbo)
