Rudolf Bissen

Rudolf Bissen (1846 - 1911) was active/lived in Denmark.  Rudolf Bissen is known for Landscape painting.

Harald Bissen was a Danish landscape painter born in Copenhagen in 1846. He was the son of sculptor Herman Wilhelm [Vilhelm] Bissen and brother of sculptor Vilhelm Bissen. Harald studied under Peter Christian Thamsen Skovgaard and attended the Royal Academy of Arts in Copenhagen from 1865-1867.

He supplied the Charlottenborg exhibitions from 1868 and was influenced by Thorvald Niss and his friend Godfred Christensen. Harald went on study trips to Italy in 1871-1872 and 1874-1875.

In the late 1870s to early 1880s, he suffered from a serious illness and temporarily abandoned painting. He was honored with the Sødring Prize in 1885, a Royal Academy scholarship in 1886, and the Eckersberg Medal in 1890 and 1892. Harald was also a member of the Danish exhibition jury for the Chicago World's Fair in 1893.

He died in Randbøldal near Vejle in 1911.
