Cornelis (Cees) Bolding was born in 1897, in Wormerveer, Zaanstad, the Netherlands. Cornelis went to the Rijkascademie in Amsterdam, where he competed in painting landscapes, portraits, city, sea, and port views. Later, from the moment Cornelis Bolding went to Scheveningen, he was inspired by the fisherman's life. Cornelis (Cees) Bolding went on to become a teacher at the Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague where he worked for 18 years as Deputy Director. He won many prizes in his lifetime and thus received the Royal Grant three times. Cornelis (Cees) Bolding died in 1979, in The Hague, Netherlands.
