The well-known Ecuadorian painter Bolívar Mena Franco recently turned one month dead, which is why a mass was celebrated in the chapel of the Colegio San Gabriel de Quito.

Pedro Bolívar Mena Franco was born in Ibarra on May 24, 1913. His parents were Tobías Mena Franco and Dolores Franco Parreño. He was married to Rosario Utreras, with whom he procreated his children: Lola, Pedro, Roció and Margarita Mena Utreras. His siblings are: Natalia Mena Franco de Navas and Gonzalo Mena Castillo and his nephews, Navas Mena and Mena Gaviño.

Mena Franco died of a stroke when he was close to his 82nd birthday.  The plastic work of this painter was made up of oils, drawings (charcoals and pastels) and engravings. His artistic career began at the School of Fine Arts in 1930 and he graduated from this academic institution in 1937.
