Joseph Brodowski II (the younger) born in 1828 in Warsaw. He was the son of the painter Antoni. He studied with Rafal Hadziewicz at the School of Fine Arts in Warsaw (1844-1851) and graduated with honors. In 1853, thanks to a scholarship, he left with Wojciech Gerson to St. Petersburg, where he continued his studies at the Academy under Boris (Gottfried) Pawlowicz Willewald.

In 1856 he received a foreign scholarship and from 1857 he stayed in Paris and attended the studio of the battalion Horace Vernet there. Then he traveled around Italy and returned to Warsaw in 1859.

The main subject of Brodowski's paintings was a horse, cattle in a landscape, as well as battle, historical and genre scenes. He collaborated with Juliwith Kossak's ear. He was an illustrator in Tygodnik Ilustrowany. The artist's works are in the collections of the National Museum in Warsaw, Kraków and Wroclaw, as well as in the Lviv Picture Gallery.   ...  [Displaying 947 of 1016 characters.]  Artist bio
