Michal Rovner

Michal Rovner (Born 1957) is active/lives in New York / Israel.  Michal Rovner is known for Video installation, photography.

Michal Rovner was born in Tel Aviv, Israel and raised in a secular household. She completed a mandatory two year commitment to the Israeli army and then enrolled in Tel Aviv University. She graduated with a degree in photography from Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem. In 1987 Rovner moved to New York though she frequently visits her six acre farm in Israel.

In the early 1990s, Rovner had solo exhibitions in New York galleries and at the Art Institute of Chicago. In 1996 Rovner began producing films and videos. In 2002 she had her first exhibition at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York. In 2003 she exhibited at the Venice Biennial representing Israel and in January 2004 she will complete a commission of a video installation for LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton headquarters in Paris.
