Stanley John (Jan) Twardowicz (1917 - 2008) was active/lived in New York, Michigan / Poland.  Stanley Twardowicz is known for Non objective-minimal, other modern, animation, sculpture, set design.

Stanley Twardowicz whose paintings are signed "Stanley" was born in Detroit, MI of Polish parents. He began to paint in 1940 and advanced rapidly through scholarships to the summer school of the Chicago Art Institute. He began to exhibit in Detroit in 1944 and has been showing in various parts of the Middle West.

Since holding a one-man show at the Columbus Gallery of Fine Arts in 1848 he has won first awards in many Ohio exhibitions. Last year he was awared a Pepsi-Cola Fellowship and in 1949 Contemporary Arts gave him his first New York exhibition in which all of his paintings were in the encaustic medium.   ...  [Displaying 641 of 1136 characters.]  Artist bio
